Our tip is take time to wander through the bustling Old Quarter. It’s the heart of Hanoi and along the narrow streets you can find shops grouped roughly by what they sell. There are many little temples, including Bach Ma, honouring a legendary horse, plus Đồng Xuân Market, selling household goods and delicious street food.

About Ho Chi Minh City…

Ho Chi Minh City, once known as Saigon, is Vietnam’s largest city and has a fascinating culture, classic colonial architecture built by former French rulers and many museums. You’ll find ornate temples, great rooftop bars, restaurants offering a combination of French, Chinese and, of course, local Vietnamese cuisine. There are many prominent landmarks spread out among Districts 1 and 3 in central Saigon, while Pham Ngu Lao Street – set on the western edge of District 1 – is an iconic backpacker’s district with laneways to enjoy exploring.
