We are back home and a great tour.

We were not sure how Gate 1 would be to travel with.

At the meet and greet was surprised how many tours others had done with Gate 1, some were in there 20’s. Mostly US & Canadian, with 1 other couple from Nth Queensland (their 5th tour). Think there were only 2 of us on 1st time tour with them.

Gate 1 were EXCELLENT. Lady that met us at the airport was very helpful, as we were delayed getting out as 1 case had been left in Singapore (delivered to hotel next afternoon) and she took us to get Sims for our phones and then out to the transfer.

Our guide was a lady by the name of Goy and she was excellent. Great sense of humour and a terrific manager of people. Some of the interesting things was she would stop at some of the roadside vendors and we could try local things, We could not come at trying Mickey Mouse (Water Rat) but there were some that did.

The hotels that were provided were great, even though Goy said some had been closed for 2 years during covid and service may be a bit lacking, but we did not experience any issues.

All our transfers worked great.

We did think that Singapore Airlines have slipped. Our pre-covid experiences with them had been better than the post-covid, mainly in quality of the seats and the food.

But overall a great holiday,

Kevin and Lesley travelled on our deal for 15-day Thailand with River Kwai tour in February 2023.

The whole trip was great, the Kiwi Rail train trips and the Interislander journeys are a great way to travel and so many memorable highlights.

Some feedback…

The 3 hotels… all very clean and good quality, the hotel apartments in Wellington and Christchurch were top notch and great locations. The Ibis in Auckland was pretty small but a very good location.

Kiwi Rail trains, very comfortable, easy checkin, great views and commentary, the Auckland to Wellington Northern Explorer was a surprise with regard to the variety of different thing to see, staff on all these trains are really customer focused.

TranzAlpine was great going all the way to Greymouth and back, had done half before off a cruise ship to Arthur’s Pass but it’s a great train trip and measures up well against the White Pass train trip from Skagway. Needed more time in Greymouth but very interesting.

Highlights for us were the train trips, the Wellington Museum is fantastic, particularly the Gallipoli exhibit which is stunning. Loved the Air New Zealand flight from Christchurch to Queenstown, spectacular views from the turbo prop plane.

Qantas were great both ways and their interchange bus service at Sydney is hassle free.

The trip back Friday via Sydney from Queenstown took 12hr from hotel to my house due to all the check-in times required and delays leaving Sydney, next time will leave NZ direct to Melb.

Overall great value for money and worth doing, people doing the trips should be aware the train stations and ferry are a bit outside the capital cities, they leave early and are 10 to 15 minutes in a taxi.

Thanks for organising the New Zealand trip last week for my sister and me. All went well. We enjoyed the TranzAlpine trip the best of the 3 trains. But all were fascinating and we saw and learnt much more about New Zealand than any road trip.

Hotels in Auckland and Christchurch were excellent.

The Mercure was nicely located but very noisy in room 203. We could hear the street walk crossing on the corner all hours of the night as well as people talking and traffic. Neither bed was good. Need renewing as they sloped. Service was efficient and prompt when we asked for clean towels, how to turn the TV on and when the fridge was not cold (new fridge). Just thought I’d let you know about the Mercure. Old room, needs refurbishing.

I was able to upgrade our seats Brisbane to Auckland and it was sooo good. Thanks for booking the flexible fare. Not worth applying for the way home as it was a 737-800.

One week into our New Zealand holiday. The scenery has been magnificent albeit drizzly weather. The last 2 nights saw snowfall on The Remarkables and surrounding mountains – what a bonus!!! We have been surrounded by snow-capped mountains all the way into Te Anau today – absolutely beautiful.

I am writing to thank you so much for your choice of accommodation to date.

The room in Te Anau is 5-star with fabulous views to the lake and mountains. A definite surprise is being able to watch TV while in the bath 🙂

Queenstown room (#421) had views over the lake and mountains and nicely fitted out.

Franz Josef was a little below par, however was comfortable and clean.

Christchurch was good location and no problem with late check-in.

Just back from Thailand and can’t thank you enough for such an epic holiday! Flights, transfers, hotels… everything worked like clockwork.

Even with the single supplement, I still felt it was excellent value for money, especially with little added inclusions of cocktails at Bangsak Village and one of the best massages I’ve ever had at Verandah.

I feel happy and relaxed and ready to take on the second half of the year.

As always the Shangri-La Yanuca Island, Fiji was superb, but so glad we opted for the ocean view room. Much quieter there with a separate pool and learned very quickly to order a bottle of wine instead of a glass HaHa!

Radisson Blu however was a disappointment due to confinement of the resort. The pool area for adults was totally full from early am till about 5 and the big pool for the kids and parents was a nightmare and as you would be aware the beach pretty well unswimmable, so I did not swim for 4 days.

Did a boat cruise and ecotrax was superb. I had booked that 3-months prior. Spent a lot of time at Marina for meals as much more variety and atmosphere.

Have travelled so many times to Fiji and I should have known to go out to an island for a week then Shangri-La for a week. Still a great holiday besides Radisson Blu and all flights went without a hitch and local operator was exceptional to deal with. We have had many visits in the past and had close relationships with Fijian families and you need to get out to the islands to do this.

Your recommendations were spot on and it was great value for the price. Including the extra time in Prague was a highlight. To be honest, we still can’t believe we managed to get away and get such a great deal, but we are so thrilled that we went.

The cruise was everything we could have hoped for. The ship is comfortable, cabins were spotless and we loved all the evening entertainment and shore excursions. It’s such an easy way to travel and the staff couldn’t be faulted.
