Cook Islands Overview
You’ll feel welcome as soon as you arrive at Sunset Resort. The eco-friendly boutique beachfront resort is located on the Rarotonga’s sheltered western coast.
Spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodation offers spacious studios and suites with kitchenette facilities. Each studio/suite features king bed/s (two single beds available on request), air-conditioning, in-room safe, insect screens, IDD phone, TV, fully-equipped kitchen facilities including fridge/freezer, microwave and cook top. Bathroom facilities are provided with toiletries, hairdryer and linen, including beach towels. All studios/suites have a private, furnished outdoor living area.
Enjoy lounging by one of the resort’s two pools, or relaxing in a hammock and gazing out to sea. You can swim and snorkel in the clear lagoon waters directly off the beach and time it right (between July to October) to spot whales just beyond the reef. Plus, it’s an ideal sunset location to sit back with a cocktail at the end of a perfect day.
One more thing, from April 2024 guests need to be 15 years or older to enjoy this special oceanfront sanctuary!

These days are yours to enjoy at your leisure. Enjoy tropical breakfast each day and all the resort facilities. Relaxing hours can be spent lounging by one of the two pools at Sunset Resort, or chilling out in a hammock with a good book while you're gazing out to sea. Swim and snorkel in the clear blue waters directly off the beach and keep an eye our for whales from July to October. Then when the sun starts to set over the water, it's a great place to sit back with a refreshing cocktail from the bar.
The local round-island bus stops at the front of the resort . You can also hire motorbikes or a car nearby, take day tours to neighbouring islands, enjoy fishing charters and much more!
Depart Cook Islands
It's time to check out of the resort and make your way to the airport for your return flights to Australia. Flights could be overnight and you'll cross the international dateline, so you'll arrive back home the next day - but we'll notify you of the exact itinerary at time of confirmation.
