More about Egypt Discover Egypt

Sure, you've seen photos of the pyramids and watched The Mummy movie, but nothing you can read or view will prepare you for the real-life thrill of experiencing Egypt! Egypt connects North Africa with the Middle East, but it feels like a world of its own. Of course, it's all about the historic monuments. From the colossal Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx, to Luxor's rich Karnak Temple and the mind-blowing Valley of the Kings. Cairo is the capital city and the first thing you should allow time for is visiting the Egyptian Museum. It's the oldest archaeological museum in the Middle East and houses the world's most impressive collection of Pharaonic antiquities. Many travellers regret not spending longer here, so make sure you put this high on your list. The second must-do experience is wandering around Khan El-Khalili. This 14th century market is a complete attack on the senses and bold introduction to Egyptian life. As well as being a thriving shopping area - selling everything from silverware and antiques, to spices, incense and souvenirs - it's a hub of cafes that serve traditional Egyptian food, a cultural melting pot and chaotic shapshot of medieval Cairo meeting modern day Egypt. You're also not far from Al-Hussein Mosque and Al-Azhar market.

More about Jordan

The one thing you probably know about Jordan is its famous ancient city of Petra. The archaeological site and the magnificent Treasury building is something you won't want to miss, but here are three other places in Jordan that our travellers rave about:
  1. On the highest hill in Amman you'll find the Citadel. The hill was a fortress for thousands of year and archaeologists have found artefacts from the Bronze Age. Two of the most impressive remains are the Temple of Hercules and the Ummayad Palace.
  2. Wadi Rum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southern Jordan. The 74,000-hectare property is a rich and varied desert landscape of narrow gorges, dramatic cliffs, 20,000 rock carvings and a strong history of human occupation that dates back 12,000 years.
  3. The Dead Sea is actually a lake that's bordered by Jordan to the east and Israel and the West Bank to the west. The 'sea' sits 400 metres below sea level and the water is nearly 10 times more salty than most oceans. Aptly named because nothing can live in the water, that doesn't put off humans and bathing is must. The high salt levels make floating a breeze and the mineral-rich mud is believed to have therapeutic qualities that will make your skin shine!

More about Morocco

Morocco is located in the northwest of Africa and only 8 miles across the sea to Europe. It's the only remaining monarchy in North Africa and the country is distinguished by its Berber, Arabian and European cultural influences. For travellers, Morocco's cities, deserts and rugged mountains are the source of great fascination and exciting local experiences. You'll quickly acquire a taste for mint tea, as the national drink is served almost everywhere. Friday is famously couscous day, which is as much a family tradition as the 'Sunday Roast'. Rabat is the capital city, Moroccans are crazy about football, there really is a Rick's Bar in Casablanca (look out for the chance to visit on our trips) and the best local greeting is 'Salaam Alaykum', which means 'peace be upon you'.

More about Turkey Discover Turkey

Turkey has to be one of the tastiest countries in the Middle East. For starters, its delicious cuisine takes its cues from Europe and Asia. Then there's the extraordinary landscapes and stunning historic sites. You're probably going to want to explore Istanbul, pay your respects in Gallipoli, see the thermal pools of Pamukkale, discover the underground world of Cappadocia and more, but there are two more things you should do in Turkey:
  1. Drink a real Turkish coffee. This isn't just a heart-starter in the morning, it's a ritual that should be savoured and appreciated in a local cafe.
  2. Try a Turkish bath, or hammam. You'll be steamed, scrubbed and pounded in the quest for wellness, but it will be worth it and it's one of those things you need to do at least once in your life!
This spectacular 35-day escorted tour offers the most incredible collection of ancient sites, temples and natural wonders in one trip. There are loads of inclusions, with many meals, local experiences and sightseeing excursions. First class hotels and a 5-star Nile River cruise make sure that your trip is as comfortable as it is exciting. Plus, you’ll be looked after by expert local guides to make the most of your adventure and all flights are included.
