East Africa accommodated tour overview

Fly to South Africa and begin in the vibrant city of Johannesburg. From here, we venture towards Botswana’s expansive Kalahari, a natural stage for the captivating narrative of the San people’s life. The enchanting veins of the Okavango Delta, an unmissable charm of Botswana, await our exploration, its wilderness poised to entertain for a duo of starlit nights.

Our next stage is the Khwai Conservation Area, reached by a trusty open 4×4, providing us a wildlife-infused home for two nights. Your camera is key as we glide in a Mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe, silently slipping through the Okavango Delta’s arteries, where hippos and crocodiles own the waters. Our wheels imprint the dusty paths of Khwai on a game drive, its wild inhabitants providing us a carousel of natural wonders. We continue to Moremi Game Reserve, devoting an entire day to an exhilarating safari and an intimate encounter with its resident fauna.

The iconic Chobe National Park serves as our amphitheatre for a soothing river cruise, offering front-row seats to elephants frolicking and forging paths across the river. Crossing the threshold to Zimbabwe, the thundering spectacle of Victoria Falls preludes our voyage to the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia, the serene shores of Lake Malawi, and the dreamlike beaches of Zanzibar Island.

A ferry ride from Dar es Salaam sets the scene for our Zanzibar retreat. Once we touch its white sandy shores and plunge into the sapphire waters of the Indian Ocean, it’s the perfect setting to etch your island memories.

The Serengeti, an untamed safari utopia, cannot be ignored. We embark on an overnight journey in specialized 4×4 safari vehicles, where the Ngorongoro Crater’s vast expanse welcomes us and herds of wildlife adorn its boundless plain. A full day’s pilgrimage through the Serengeti National Park unfurls before us, imprinted forever in our hearts.

Your epic safari odyssey concludes in Nairobi, Kenya’s pulsating capital, where we get to reflect on our vivid memories and newfound love for this incredible continent.

More about Botswana

Botswana might be one of the flattest countries, but don't be fooled into thinking that means it's dull. Almost 80% of the landlocked country is covered by the spectacular Kalahari Desert. There's also the lush Okavango Delta, which is the largest inland delta in the world, and Makgadigadi pan, one of the biggest salt pans on earth. Nearly 38% of the country is national parks and wildlife reserves and in Botswana you'll find the world's biggest concentration of African elephants. What you won't find are many people, with a population density of only approximately 4 people/km2. Amongst these inhabitants are descendants of the world's oldest tribe, the San, who date back over 22,000 years and still speak with the 'click' language and practice tribal traditions.

More about South Africa

South Africa is a fascinating country full of contrasts, rich cultural heritage, imposing natural wonders and of course many of the most remarkable animals on earth. Table Mountain is a stunning backdrop to the city of Cape Town. The Western Cape boasts beautiful beaches and is prime wine growing country. Inland you'll find many impressive wildlife reserves, including Kruger National Park, famous for its wildlife viewing opportunities and being home to the 'Big Five' (leopard, lion, rhino, buffalo and elephant).

More about Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe, or officially the Republic of Zimbabwe, is bordered by South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Mozambique. It's gone through a resurgence in recent years, with stability returning to the landlocked country and gradual economic growth. Despite its rocky political past, Zimbabwe has invested in its natural heritage, with around 11% of the country declared parks and wildlife estates. The most renowned and largest is Hwange National Park, where you could be fortunate to see the Big 5 (elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard and lion). Zimbabwe's biggest must-see attraction is thundering Victoria Falls on the Zambezi river, where the famous falls actually straddle the border with Zambia.

Is this trip right for you?...

Partaking in an adventure tour in Africa involves covering hundreds if not thousands of kilometres and our tours are as much about this journey as they are about the destinations we visit. Use your time during these drives to talk to your fellow travellers, have a drink and take note of the world passing by your window. Some roads you travel on will be smooth and easy while others could take up to an hour to cover 1 kilometre. There is just no telling what could happen with road, weather, traffic and other conditions that may exist that will either increase or decrease the amount of time you spend on the road so take your watch off, put your iPad away, turn off your phone and just relax. An average day could take anything from 5 to 14 hours, it all depends on the day… and that's only an "average"!

Important to remember...

The day-by-day tour descriptions are intended as an indicative guide only. Travel by nature is unpredictable. Weather patterns, sea or river conditions, road accessibility, public holidays, travel restrictions and a multitude of other factors may necessitate itinerary changes that are ultimately for the client's benefit. It is essential that travellers are flexible and open minded in this regard.

Safe travel requirements:
International regulations are constantly changing. Travellers may need to be prepared to take a COVID-19 test prior to joining the group and be able to provide proof of their fully vaccinated status.

Local authorities, as well as airlines and tour operators, may have additional requirements in place for departures. We recommend you check these in advance and again before departure. If you're transiting through other destinations during your trip, check on any local requirements at each transit destination and confirm any specific requirements for onward travel with your airline.

Only get tested through verified official testing centres. Scammers are taking advantage of travellers by charging for fake tests. If you're unsure where to get tested, contact the local health authority for advice.

You may still need to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result even if you've been vaccinated. If you've had a COVID-19 vaccine, you should carry your vaccination certificate along with your negative PCR test results while travelling from/to Australia, especially if you have one or more transit stops. Some destinations may ask for proof of testing and vaccination before allowing you to transit through or cross their border.

These guidelines are subject to change as the global situation evolves. The enforcement of certain measures (i.e. covid testing, social distancing, mask-wearing etc.) will vary in different regions.

It's your responsibility to check with local health authorities for best practices in their region and ensure that you're eligible to travel prior to booking.
