Fly to Tokyo
Upon arrival at Tokyo Airport, use your Japan Rail Pass to make your way to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to start exploring the spectacular city.

Tokyo
Your time is free to explore Japan’s busy capital city. Tokyo is a blend of the ultramodern and the traditional. Famous for its skyscrapers and neon-lit streets to its ancient temples. Meiji Shinto Shrine is known for its impressive gate and surrounding woods. The Imperial Palace sits amid large public gardens and the city's many museums offer exhibits ranging from classical art to a reconstructed kabuki theatre.
Tokyo to Kyoto
Today check out of your Tokyo hotel and make your way back to the railway station for your next bullet train journey to Kyoto.
Kyoto
Formerly the capital of Japan, Kyoto is located on the island of Honshu. Today it's famous for its imperial places, breathtaking gardens, classical Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines and traditional wooden houses. This is also where you can experience Japan's famous cultural traditions, such as the beautiful geisha of the Gion district or remarkable kaiseki dining, where dishes are intricately prepared and enjoyed in multiple courses.
Kyoto to Osaka
Today check out of your Kyoto hotel and make your way back to the railway station for your next bullet train journey to Osaka.
Osaka
Despite being a commercial centre and large port city, there's much to discover in Osaka. The modern architecture is a highlight in itself, as well as the nightlife and amazing street food. The main historical landmark is the 16th-century shogunate Osaka Castle, which is surrounded by a moat and park. If you're there at the right time of year (typically late-March to mid-April or sometimes early May), this is where you'll get that famous shot of the beautiful plum, peach and cherry-blossom trees.
Fly Tokyo to Australia
It's time to board the Bullet Train back to Tokyo and board your flight home to Australia. The journey ends but amazing memories begin!
